Cam's Massage
During a therapy session, Cam incorporates Swedish and Deep Tissue massage techniques. Swedish massage promotes relaxation and increases venous and lymphatic drainage while Deep Tissue Massage accesses deeper structural muscles and tissues which may be the underlying cause of chronic pain and discomfort. When combined, these two soft tissue techniques affect maladaptive body mechanics and discomforts by encouraging the release of holding patterns associated with muscle and fascial tension.
One example of bodywork used by Cam is a deep tissue technique known as trigger point therapy. A trigger point treatment focuses direct pressure to specific areas emanating physical stress. A locally felt area of pain differs from that of a trigger point in that trigger points cause a referral of pain in an adjacent area. Trigger point therapy can aide the mind in helping the body heal by making it possible to respond with a conscious effort to allow the area of pressure and tension to relax. Trigger point therapy opens a window into a bodily perception by demonstrating to an individual the way pain can be felt in one area of the body but emanate from another locale. Bodywork therapies such as trigger point treatment define the locations that bring about discomforts. Sometimes the origins of these discomforts can come as a surprise. Therefore, discovering the specific points of tension in tissues is important to the healing process. Utilizing mind/body awareness treatments, such as those focusing on trigger points, allows for greater release of tissue tension. This, in turn, produces greater range of motion and a notable decrease of discomfort.
Massage is more than just a treat. Massage is integral body maintenance whether you are active or deskbound. It offers a variety of healthful benefits including:
- Easing physical and emotional stress.
- Providing support that relieves the discomforting aches and pains associated with acute, chronic, and overuse injury.
- Helps alleviate stiffness and soreness related to repetitive actions.
- Decreases discomfort felt from stressful chronic postural holding patterns.
- Increases recovery time of acute and chronic injuries.
- Promotes mood comfort.
- Prevents and decreases the chances of injury.
- Encourages venous and lymphatic lymph drainage.
